Sting

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, CBE (born 2 October 1951), is better known by his professional name Sting. Prior to starting his solo career, he was the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist of the rock band The Police. Let's just concentrate on that for the moment. Although their initial sound was punk inspired, The Police soon switched to reggae-tinged rock and minimalist pop, of which Sting's basslines were a major component.

Even then, he wasn't doing himself any favours.
